Moving Towards a Greener Future
Efficient Spaces: Organization & Design is proud to announce that it has become British Columbia’s first Green Certified moving company, a milestone that founder and owner Becky Lapierre says represents far more than an environmental designation.
The company has been committed to reducing her environmental impact long before Becky founded Efficient Spaces. Her sustainability journey began by going paper-free while working in real estate and has continued through the responsible practices now built into every move and downsizing project.
In July 2026, Efficient Spaces received certification through the BC Green Business program delivered by the Synergy Foundation. The program assessed our current business practices and provided practical recommendations to reduce emissions, conserve resources, improve operational efficiency, and minimize waste.

What This Means To Us
As a company, we are committed to reducing the environmental impact of every move by making sustainability a priority throughout our operations. From the materials we use to the way we handle unwanted belongings, we continually look for practical ways to reduce waste, reuse materials, and keep items out of local landfills.
We are incredibly proud of this designation as we continue to grow and support our community, while also making decisions that are better for the environment.
What We’ve Changed
Efficient Spaces has made sustainability part of its everyday operations, including:

Using an electric vehicle to reduce transportation emissions.

Reusing moving boxes until they are no longer functional, then recycling them.

Using reusable mattress bags and reusable, waterproof and tear-resistant alternatives to traditional packing materials.

Reusing nearly all moving materials wherever possible.

Using recyclable moving materials.

Using refillable water bottles rather than disposable plastic bottles.

Prioritizing donation and resale opportunities during downsizing so usable belongings can find new homes instead of going to landfill.

Using cleaning products that are approximately 90% biodegradable and animal-friendly.

Prioritizing eco-friendly and recyclable products when purchasing new supplies.
